After endless hours in the airplane, couple of caipirinhas and red wine later, we arrived finally Denpasar over Bangkok. The temperature and humidity feels slightly different as in Frankfurt. Jumped into a cab, we started to find a hotel – or at least something similar. As you can see, we finally found one…
…with an open air bathroom…
…sticked the mosquito net on the ceiling…
…and had the first night in lovely Indonesia. Next day started easily with getting the scooter ready for the road with some gas
Our first stop was Tanah Lot
Some pictures heading around Bali
It went really quickly, and we had some new friends. If we can believe or not, they told us, sure, this is a normal club… don’t ask what is normal…
I have to say, breakfast seems alway to be a total crap…
Bridge building seems to be an adventure:
The best cottage we had in this part of the world:
for sure, our own beach:
some time for relaxing
It seems that alcohol brings people together here as well. So Tim an I had some drinks (some is a strechable word) and finally woke up the next morning with the personal invitation of the barkeeper to come to his place for an awesome dinner. So miles later through the forests, up the endless hills, we finally arrived at his house and came together with his family – and they cooked a really outstanding dinner for us. Nice folks these people…
After the lunch (was more a dinner, but still at lunch time) we drove to Bali’s most amazing waterfall. We drove, that is not correct, cause we only drove the first half – hiking gives a better impression about the way…
but the view… was just awesome…
come closer…
even more…
Finally, the reward of an outstanding day was a amazing sunset
a bit cultural experience also belongs to a travel like this…
Next stop on our journey was the volcano Gunung Agung, but the plan was to see the sunrise from the top – so sleep at the basecamp and have an early start into the day
early and heavy:
view is getting better from step to step
and here we go:
here at the top, we have some apes
uhh, here are the apes:
but finally, the way down was not bad at all
That’s it for the first part of the trip; this was 12 days around Bali, now it’s time to explore the other Indonesian islands.
