Another very impressive temple inside the Angkor Wat area is the Ta Prohm temple where the Hollywood movie Tomb Raider was produced (at least some scenes). The very interesting part of this temple is the inside area, where trees and walls are combined in a way, that the support each other.
Angkor Wat was one of the main reasons for a Cambodia trip as we talk about seeing Angkor Wat for years. So after a first day in Phnom Penh and a horrible night bus trip, we arrived in Siem Reap at 5 am. Sunrise was already gone, so seeing Angkor Wat during sunrise is the plan for tomorrow. So we went to Angkor Wat during mid day to have not so many tourists over there.
End of April time was finally ready to get some stuff into the backpack and leave Germany behind… Flying over Singapore into Phnom Penh in Cambodia, nearly 24 hours later from door to door – or better said from door to bike rental station, we finally arrived. And we only miss one backpack 🙂

Finally we arrived at one oft the most famous buildings of St. Petersburg, called the Blood Church.
Another lovely day in an awful cold part of Russia. The weather is pretty nice, but as the humidity is so high, the -26°C feel like -40°C… but the sun was shining all the day. So no excuse for not leaving the hotel and experience this city.
As we arrived in Saint Petersburg quite early at 6:30 in the morning via train, we had to wait some time until our hotel is ready and used the time to gather first experiences with the local metro.
During Christmas and New Years eve you will find Moscow – especially at night – covered in a very awesome light and decorated very well.
As we have spent last year some days during Christmas and Silvester in New York USA, we decided this time to go more into the eastern direction to see how the Russian people are going to celebrate the winter holidays. So we started on December 31st from Frankfurt to Moscow to arrive there in the early evening to have enough time for a nice dinner…
