A very nice area called Zabergäu close to Heilbronn. We were lucky that day, it was sunny and clear view. There are only a few days when the leaves turn into so many different colours.
Sri Lanka Day 9 – Negombo city and fish market
Our first stop in Negombo was the fish market, where the people sell fish, dry fish and the boats are arriving form the sea.
You can’t imagine, how many thousands of fishes are lying in the sun for drying reasons.
Sri Lanka Day 8 – Wilpattu Safari
Anaradhapura is a good point to start a Wilpattu Safari, what we did this day. Wilpattu is a less famous National Park, that means you will not meet so many other tourists, it’s possible to see more wild animals.
Sri Lanka Day 7 – Trincomalee and Pigeon Island
One of our worst hotels we had in Trincomalee as we did not had the chance to check other hotels due to lack of time – it was late in the evening when we arrived, hungry and tired, so we took the second hotel. Pretty awful but at least a bed…
Sri Lanka Day 6 – Sigiriya Rock and Dambullah
After the night yesterday at Kandy Esala Perahera Festival, we had a bit more sleep today. After a delicious breakfast, we started our journey to Sigiriya.

When we drove down the hills into Kandy town district, we left the tea plantations for this journey. Here you’ll find some last impressions.
Sri Lanka Day 5 – Nuwara Eliya and proximity
The way between Nuwara Eliya and Kandy is really impressive because of its scenic views over tea plantations. The road is small and twisty, but stopping every 100 meters necessary as the outstanding view changes very often.
Sri Lanka Day 5 – Horton Plains, Worlds End and Baker Falls
This morning was again an early one. We got up at 4:30 am to drive a long long way up to the Horton Plains which basically begin in Ohiya. So we drove with our still slightly pissed driver from Ella to Ohiya, where we started with our breakfast on the road. This breakfast consisted of pretty good tea and some cake.
Sri Lanka Day 4 – Ella area, Tea Fields and Little Adam’s Peak
The area between Ella and Kandy is very famous because of its tea fields and some national parks. Therefore we hired a scooter to learn more about this nice area.
Sri Lanka Day 3 – Kirinda Beach and Travelling to Ella
After our Yala Safari, we drove upwards on the coast to reach Kirinda beach before we decided to turn left heading up to Ella.
