So let’s start with our drive to Outjo – the Gate to Etosha. First stop was very close, the so called petrified forest. This is a 80.000 year old forest which has been petrified over the years. Very impressive to see.

Twyfelfontein, the name of our next lodge, brought us back into the country, away from the cold seaside. It did not take very long and we have been back into a very hot part of Africa again: close to the Etosha National Park.

Arrived in Walvis Bay / Swakopmund in the evening, we just recognized that Africa can be very very cold…
It has been something around 10 degrees in the evening, even less during night. And very windy as well.

As the morning started with an very awesome Sossusvlei dune view, we went back before high noon to walk through Sesriem Canyon and follow our route towards Solitaire.

From Hammerstein Lodge we started at 4:30 AM towards Sossusvlei Dunes to be at the entrance gate as early as they open. Actually we were car no. 11 which ist not so bad at all 🙂
So the gate opened and we drove the 70 km into the Sossusvlei park, passing a lot of very high dunes…

The next day started with an early start, something around 5 AM, to see as much animals as possible during our Lapa Lodge Game Drive.

Some hours later in our Ford Ranger 4×4, partly road, partly gravel road, we arrived in Mariental. Mariental is a very small city, but also a good escape to Kalahari dessert – the place where we had our next lodge.

11 hours and 30 min away after departing at Frankfurt airport, you can find yourself in deep Africa, for example in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. When you look to the right or to the left in airplane, to check who’s flying with you to Namibia, you’ll see some hunters, some photographers, some groups (looking forward to jump after 12 hrs flight into a small bus for another 5 hrs…) – but all of them have a few things in common. They are all addicted to nature, animals and wildlife.
And we had the same reason to go to Namibia…

During the last time we have been in Asia, we spent a weekend in Singapore. As we already knew, Singapore is a quite interesting big city with a lot of things to explore, so it took us back. And we have taken a funny painted airplane, see below…

After leaving awesome Penang Island and beautiful Georgetown, we took our motorbike, heading down to Kuala Lumpur, passing Ipoh on the left hand side and enjoyed some road at the beach side. On the first pic you see a typical Asian Red Dragon Fruit, very tasty and healthy.
