We arrived the three gorges dam very late at night, around midnight. As it was very windy and rainy, no ship was allowed to pass through the locks. After waiting for hours, we stopped finally very close to the locks with some other ships to wait for the next morning.
The second day on the Yangste River, after the first day, which was a bit boring, due to a lack of interesting spots, this day was quite awesome. It started after a short breakfast with the first gorge, which is really the most impressive one.
Leaving Chengdu at late afternoon, we took again the train to head to Chongquing. As Chongquing is one of the largest citys in the world (Chongquing area has around 30 million people), it was not a surprise, to leave the train, jump into the car – and wait in the traffic jam. Imagine, 6.000 people arrive at the same time – and they all want to leave the train station by car.
We were lucky, all other passengers had the same issue and our ship waited for us.
Chengdu is one of our favourite citys in China. It is very far away from the modern tourism citys, in the middle of China and also famous to be the gate to Tibet. Therefore it is very traditional with its tea houses, temples etc.
Chengdu, which is very far away from normal tourism citys, in the middle of China, this is one of the few places in the world to see Panda bears.
Very early in the morning we headed to the airport to take the airplane from Xi’an to Chengdu, from their we took the car to Leshan, as Chinese people said, a very short ride, around 7 hours including the way back…
