Back in Germany, we decided on short notice for a hiking trip in the Alpes – so back in Riezlern to walk up to the Enzian Hütte, 2/3 on the way to the Rappensee, which we will reach by sunrise at 5:00 in the morning.

We only had a few nights in Shanghai, but tried to see as much as possible to get around in Shanghai at night. The picture above is the typical skyscraper scenery from the riverside.

From Suzhou to Shanghai, that’s a 30 min train ride – but a completely different world. As Suzhou is more an old fashioned smaller city with a lot of back-to-the-roots stores, Shanghai is the city of modern China.

Suzhou is very famous for silk production. And as a lot of silk fabrics come from Asia, we took the chance to visit a silk spinning mill. But the process starts a bit earlier, with the silk worm and their cocoon.

Down in Suzhou, their are a lot of canals, therefore this is known as the „Venice of China“ – and you can truly believe, this is a very nice part of the city. No rush hour, no tourists, no cars…

Because of rain and fog, we left the Yangtze ship quite late. Because of thousands of tourists at the three gorges dam, we were late. And because of the poor view, nobody was able to the dam and tried and tried and tried – what made us – guess – very very late. So we…

We arrived the three gorges dam very late at night, around midnight. As it was very windy and rainy, no ship was allowed to pass through the locks. After waiting for hours, we stopped finally very close to the locks with some other ships to wait for the next morning.

The second day on the Yangste River, after the first day, which was a bit boring, due to a lack of interesting spots, this day was quite awesome. It started after a short breakfast with the first gorge, which is really the most impressive one.

Leaving Chengdu at late afternoon, we took again the train to head to Chongquing. As Chongquing is one of the largest citys in the world (Chongquing area has around 30 million people), it was not a surprise, to leave the train, jump into the car – and wait in the traffic jam. Imagine, 6.000 people…
